This new dual-screen PC could be your ultimate Windows 10 upgrade

If you’ve been looking to upgrade to a brand new Windows PC from an older Windows 10 model then you will want to check out this cutting edge laptop just announced at CES 2024 in Las Vegas.

Computer giant Asus was on hand on the show floor at one of the year’s biggest tech events to launch several new Windows 11 machines, including the eye-catching Zenbook Duo OLED, a laptop with two 14-inch 3K displays with a detachable keyboard that can be arranged in several configurations.

This exciting new PC naturally runs the latest and greatest version of Windows 11, and its Intel chip has AI features, though the keyboard does not have the Copilot AI key that Microsoft recently announced is coming to new Windows computers.

The displays are attached along their long edge by a 180 degree hinge. The wackiest way to use the Zenbook Duo is with both screens stacked horizontally so you have two full displays on top of each other, held sturdy by the built-in kickstand and connected to the supplied keyboard.

It’s not the first time we’ve seen a bonkers dual-screen PC, though – Lenovo launched its Yoga Book 9i last year, asking a whopping £2,229. If that’s a bit steep, Asus has kindly decided to charge £1,699 when it hits stores later this month. That’s still some major pocket change for a new laptop, even if it does have double the screens.

The top display of the Zenbook Duo OLED is thinner with a webcam built-in for video calls, while the bottom screen has the kickstand and several ports, all powered by an AI-powered Intel Core Ultra 9 processor and 32GB RAM.

You can choose to run the Duo in four different modes:

  • Dual-screen mode as described above, with one screen on top of the other for running multiple applications
  • Desktop mode, which has the screens vertical like a book, which Asus says is good for document reading and financial analysis. It would also be good for coders
  • Laptop mode, which is self-explanatory. You can use the bottom screen when folded as a virtual keyboard or place the physical keyboard on top of it
  • Sharing mode lets you put both screens flat thanks to the hinge to show off content or work on a tabletop.

With up to 2TB storage, a high-capacity battery, two Thunderbolt 4 ports and a USB-A port, and an ultra-thin design that Asus says is 14.6mm thick at points, this looks like a laptop to get work done but make heads turn while you’re at it. It even has a headphone jack. Fancy that.

Asus also announced a new version of its Zenbook 14 OLED laptop, the Vivobook Pro 15 OLED laptop that’s got a bveefy GPU aimed at gamers, as well as all-new Vivobook S laptops for 2024 with new processors from Intel or AMD.
